At the Echuca Horticultural Society members have been enjoying friendships and gardening activities since establishment on the 18th September 1879 - which will make the Society 137 years old in September 2015.
Monthly meetings, with guest speakers, are held at St. Mary’s Hall Echuca on the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 7:30pm (except January). All questions related to gardening can be answered during valuable discussions at the meetings. Details of guest speakers can be found in the Syllabus Attachment.
An Autumn and Spring Flower Show is held at the St. Mary’s Hall each year. The dates and entry format can be found in the Show Schedule. Anyone interested can enter into the floral art, flower, vegetable or fruit in the appropriate section. There is also a photography section.
Other activities of interest are bus trips to the Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show, Open Gardens and field trips in surrounding areas.
Members assist in rose pruning and garden maintenance at the Echuca Cemetery each year.
There is extensive library of gardening books which can be borrowed to educate and stimulate your passion in gardening.
There is an active and popular sub-group who learn Floral Art. They have regular monthly meetings separate to the main meeting. These members conduct various workshops and invite guest speakers to encourage and enhance a fascination in floral art. Some of these members have had successful entries in the Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show - Floral Art section.
You would be made very welcome in this happy and friendly group who foster a strong love and appreciation of horticulture and gardening.
