On 20th April 12 Members & friends enjoyed our day at the gardens, old & new. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t the best but we came prepared . Highlight was the native parrot aviary so colourful. The trees were showing their best autumn foliage & many shrubs, dahlias, cannas still in flower. We then went to the new site, adjacent to the old with many plants being waterwise. Lots of seats to sit and admire the lovely vistas. Then off to PepperGreen Farm & Cafe for lunch and a talk on the beginnings of this delightful garden which is run for the purpose of teaching disadvantaged and challenged people gardening and crafts. The lunch was delicious with most sourced from the garden. The manager horticulturist spoke of the history of the site then we had a tour in the rain with umbrellas furled to survey all the gardens. After leaving here we went to fellow Bendigo Garden member Margaret’s home on 2 blocks, to check out her enormous garden and her generous giving of many cuttings and knowledge of course it absolutely poured with rain which is what all gardeners LOVE!! A most enjoyable outing once again
