Our group held a Kokadama workshop at our May meeting. Some very enthusiastic members got their hands dirty to make their very own KOKADAMA which is the art of Japanese Bonsai. Soil was mixed with peat moss and dampened made into about a 4″ ball. Some people used paperbark to wrap their plant in or sphagnum moss, then the plant was poked into the hole made on top and soil/peat mix pushed around plant to secure, then string was tightly wrapped around the ball and knotted. Small plants were needed such as succulents, ferns, grasses & trailing plants with all the soil removed from the roots, Members could make a hanging Kokadama or just sit it on a shallow dish.
