On Tuesday 20 September 2022 9.30 am start, at White Hills Bowls Club– Bendigo Garden Club played host to our regional meeting. Six of our club members attended starting with a registration, cuppa and delicious array of cakes, sandwiches & slices. At 10 am Bendigo Garden Club President Keith Woods welcomed all present. In attendance were club members from Cohuna, East Lodden, Echuca, Kaarimba, Kyabram, Mooroopna, Shepparton, SwanHill, Tatura, Numurkah and Bendigo. Apologies- Deniliquin, Kerang, Koondrook/ Barham. We were addressed by RHS President – Don Rickerby who spoke about the effect the pandemic has had on garden clubs not being able to meet and some of the ways some clubs used Zoom meetings to keep in touch. With lots of open gardens and speakers unable to be accessed during this tough lockdown. We then had the club reports to be read by a member of each club, in which Cecilia our secretary spoke about our recent workshops such as Kokadama making , seed sharing , our ALL Things Gardening Sale , garden problems etc. & Our agm changes to committee . There was a great trading table available, with most of us purchasing something!!!! lots of lovely raffle prizes, Rhonda took home a lovely lucky door prize of floral art. There were 3 speakers – first was City of Bendigo Parks division Grace Millar speaking on the planting of 53 thousand TULIPS at Rosalind park in special beds, which were also lit up at night . It takes 3 weeks of planting by the team!!! WOW!!! Then we had the Bendigo Tourism Glen Harvey go through what Bendigo is up to going forward with art gallery & museum plans, Bendigo brand name out there, light up the streets and of course the Easter Fair. A break for a delicious lunch, then Sandie Davies gave FLORAL ART DEMO which were the lucky door prizes. A well run event congratulations Bendigo Garden Club. Next year Mooroopna Garden Club are the hosts.
