0n March 20th 2024 ~~44 enthusiastic garden lovers went by bus to THE MELBOURNE INTERNATIONAL GARDEN FLOWER SHOW….. a GLORIOUS AUTUMN DAY greeted is at the Carlton Gardens and Exhibition Building…. a lucky bus entry ticket was held on the way to Melbourne with much hilarity… with some lovely prizes… There was so much to see once again with colourful flowers predominate all around us. The stunning landscaped show gardens once again didn’t disappoint with many different styles from cottagey perennial, bush dry , lots of pergolas for relaxing under, pools and ponds, succulents and abundant flower power. Hanging baskets were more popular, scarecrows, indigenous gardens, lots of stalls selling all manner of garden plants, equipment, advice and lots of SMILES. The GARDEN LANDSCAPERS WERE ON HAND FOR ANY QUESTIONS, we caught up with Sophie THOMSON from Gardening Australia WHO was generous enough to pose for a photo with Jill and Sherril and was very pleased to see our badges from our garden club. THE RUSTY ARTWORK WAS OUTSTANDING with great use of recycled reo, wire, plough discs, whatever they could source. The indoor display was magnificent with art work , jewellery, workshops, numerous floral displays, along with the stunning DINASAUR display in the main entrance with lots of succulents, bonsai, flowers with animated dinasaurs …. our two floral art ladies Rosemary & Lesley entered again this year with no place taken this year. There were plenty of food trucks and coffee vans to sait the appetite with plenty of seating too. We left Melbourne at 4pm for the trip home and I’m sure everyone enjoyed the day, going by the bags going under the bus storage area spent some money on plants etc too.
