SUNNYMEADE GARDENS VISIT SATURDAY OCT 12 2024
4 Members visited this stunning Open Garden on a beautiful sunshine day. The garden is in the wonderful Strathbogie Ranges at Kithbrook near Euroa Victoria. The garden was first established in 1986 by Craig Irving. There are 15 GARDEN ROOMS surrounded by tall clipped hedges and stone walls with many quirky statues urns and ponds. There are salvias, peonies, tulips, irises, poppies,sedums, roses,and many more self seeded flowers with neat roaming pathways throughout the themed areas. An INCA WALL AND GARDEN features plants known or grown or sacred to the Incas of Peru. A circle of pebbles labrynth is enclosed by Hornbeam hedges. PERSIAN GARDEN with a traditional pool and tiled pavilion. 5 arches of Rose Mme Alfred Carriere underscored with yellow rannuculi, also blue and white flowers most self seeded. The ROSE GARDEN with a box partierre with many roses which were not quite out yet but had peonies and iris dotted around them and on the side a traditional Victorian Gazebo. A HOLLY CIRCLE with vibrant green leaves. A stunning PLEACHED HORNBEAM pathway led back to the lawn area. Cyclamen are planted beneath which had also finished flowering. WALLED GARDEN WITH MOONGATE all made by Craig planted with BLACK & WHITE flowers and foliage plants was absolutely stunning. There is a ROSE WALK underplanted with Winter and EARLY spring bulbs was very colourful. SUNKEN GARDEN is a hot coloured garden the site of the original farmhouse. FRUIT GARDEN contains a framework of espaliered crab apples and the vegetable garden. HATHORS GARDEN showcases the ancient EGYPTIAN GODDESS OF LOVE. UNDER CONSTUCTION is a DRY CLIMATE GARDEN to receive no irrigation. A credit to his hard work.
